The MISTICO project set itself the ambitious goal of creating a high-performance car with a powerful naturally aspirated V12 engine, starting from the base of a Mercedes-Benz R129 SL 600. The aim was to reproduce the unmistakable sound of the Pagani Zonda, combining it with cutting-edge performance and handling.
To achieve this goal, the project team subjected the M120 V12 engine to a thorough overhaul, increasing its power and rpm and tackling complex engineering challenges, such as managing torsional vibrations.
Once the challenge of doubling the engine's power was overcome, it was necessary to completely redesign the suspension system, both front and rear. ONEDGE actively supported the MISTICO team, particularly on the production of unique components made of 7075 aluminum and 42CRMO4 hardened and tempered steel.
Regarding the production of the front and rear suspension, a crucial element to ensure an engaging and precise driving experience. All components were made through sophisticated 5-axis milling processes on aluminum blocks, a choice dictated by the need to obtain complex and optimized geometries to maximize performance and minimize weight. Thanks to this technology, it was possible to create highly customized components, capable of meeting the specific needs of the project.
Each piece was subjected to rigorous dimensional controls, guaranteeing compliance with design tolerances and ensuring a final product of the highest quality. The materials used, certified according to the UNI EN 10204 regulation, offer maximum safety and traceability, demonstrating the attention to detail that characterizes the entire project.
